Our methodology

Clear recommendations, with the evidence shown.

Buy or Wait is designed to answer one practical question: is today's price good enough to buy, or is waiting more likely to pay off?

01

We track prices over time

Prices are collected from Australian retailer product pages and stored as dated snapshots. A single price is not treated as a trend. Recommendations become stronger as more snapshots and more verified retailers are available.

02

We compare today with the evidence

The decision engine compares the current price with the recorded low, average and high, recent price direction, how long the current price has held, retailer agreement and the maturity of the available history.

03

We separate score from confidence

The Buy Score describes the apparent value of the current price. Confidence describes how much evidence supports that score. Limited history, stale checks or low retailer coverage can cap the recommendation even when the raw price looks attractive.

04

Forecasts are estimates

The 7, 30 and 90-day cheaper-price probabilities are estimates derived from recorded price behaviour. They are not guarantees and cannot predict retailer promotions, stock shortages, pricing errors or future product releases.

Data freshness

What “checked” means

Retailer prices are refreshed on a scheduled basis. Each offer shows when it was last verified. If a retailer page cannot be rechecked, the price may remain visible with a stale or last-verified warning rather than being presented as live.

Affiliate disclosure

How the site may earn money

Some retailer links may be affiliate links. Buy or Wait may receive a commission when a purchase is made through one of those links, at no additional cost to the shopper. Affiliate relationships do not change the price history, Buy Score or recommendation logic.

What Buy or Wait does not claim

Prices can change after a check, availability may vary, shipping can affect the final cost and forecasts can be wrong. Always confirm the final price, stock and terms on the retailer's website before purchasing.
