Buy or Wait is designed to answer one practical question: is today's price good enough to buy, or is waiting more sensible based on the evidence we have?
Prices are collected from Australian retailer product pages and stored as dated observations. A single price is not treated as a trend. Recommendations become stronger as more verified observations and retailers are available.
The decision engine compares a fresh current price with the recorded low, average and high, recent price direction, retailer agreement and the maturity of the available history.
The Buy Score describes the apparent value of the current price. Confidence describes how much evidence supports that score. Limited history or low retailer coverage can cap the recommendation even when the raw price looks attractive.
Buy or Wait recommendations are evidence-based guidance, not a calibrated prediction of the future. We do not present an exact probability of a future price drop unless that probability has been validated for that use.
A retailer price is treated as live only when it has been freshly checked, validated and confirmed buyable. If we cannot recheck an offer within the freshness window, it is removed from the live comparison. Previously verified observations may remain in price history, clearly treated as historical rather than current.
Some retailer links may be affiliate links. Buy or Wait may receive a commission when an eligible purchase is made through one of those links, at no additional cost to the shopper. Affiliate relationships do not change price history, Buy Score or recommendation logic.
